This Top Bollywood Filmmaker Has Entered The OTT Party Now!

by Sudhir kumar

OTT entertainment is the new golden goose for Bollywood filmmakers and producers. Top Bollywood directors such as Neeraj Pandey, Imtiaz Ali and Abhishek Chaubey, along with South bigwigs Mani Ratnam and Gautam Menon, all have thrown their hat into the OTT ring. And now, it’s the turn of eclectic filmmaker, Homi Adjania, to enter the web space and make a series.

For the uninformed, Homi Adjania is the man behind films such as Cocktail, Finding Fanny, Being Cyrus, Angrezi Medium among others. And he will now direct a web series, titled Saas Bahu Aur Cocaine. The series will be about a bunch of feisty women who run a drug cartel from their backyard, even as the men of their family live and work out of town. The series will be set in the backdrop of sleepy Kutch.

There have been several shows that show men running a successful drug business. But women? The only series we can think of that comes close to Saas Bahu Aur Cocaine in premise is the Israeli series ‘Queens’, which, by the way, is being remade in the USA by a prominent production house.

The writing part of the series is almost complete. Adjania will start scouting for his cast soon enough. When asked if he has any actors in mind for the predominantly female cast, he mentioned that Tabu and Radhika Apte are on his wish list. He would also like to work again with his Angrezi Medium actress Radhika Madan.

The bold, funny and gritty series has been commissioned by Disney Plus Hotstar, in its Hotstar Specials category.
