The Premier League, England’s Most Competitive League and the World’s “Most Unpredictable League”, is back and will be available for the Indian audience to view on Disney+ Hostar VIP (and above). The previous season ended on 26th July after which the players were given a short 48-day break from their club duties. The 20/21 season of the Premier League is starting today, on September 12th at 5pm IST.
The Premier League is the most watched league around the World and India is no exception. In fact, English football has so much dominance in India, that the next most-watched league in the India is not any other European top-flight leagues, but instead it’s the EFL championship, the second tier of English club football. This is followed by Laliga (The Spanish League), where a lot of Barcelona and Real Madrid games are watched.
Liverpool are the returning Champions, while Manchester City will be hoping to knock them off their pedestal this year, with the players hoping to give their manager Pep Guardiola, his third Premier League title. Closely following them will be Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs who will be fighting out for the next two spots for the coveted Champions League next year.
Sadly Manchester United, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Burnley fans will have to wait until the next game week before they can watch their teams in action. Both Manchester clubs had more European football matches to play than the rest of the teams, so they are given a break this week and the other two as their opponents have to sit out as well. These two matches will be played later down the line in the season.
The league’s starting week fixtures are as follows (All times are in IST):-
Saturday 12 September
At 17:00 Fulham VS Arsenal
At 19:30 Crystal Palace VS Southampton
At 22:00 Liverpool VS Leeds United
