Birth and early life of Narayana Murthy (Narayana Murthy early life and education) –

Narayana Murthy was born on 20 August 1946 in a middle-class family in the city of Mussoorie, Karnataka. He has 8 brothers and a sister, his father was a school teacher and uncle was a civil servant. The financial condition of his family was not good. Narayana Murthy completed his early studies from a government school. His father wanted to follow the same path for him, but he had a different plan. He wanted to become an engineer. After completing his schooling, he took its entrance exam for admission in “IIT Kanpur”, in which he was cleared with a higher degree and scholarship.

However, the scholarship could not cover the entire cost of his studies and his father was unable to pay the fees. With the advice of his father, he entered the National Institute of Engineering, a local engineering college. In 1967, he got a B.E. in Electrical Engineering. Graduated with degree. In 1969, he obtained a master’s degree from “IIT Kanpur”. When he was in IIT he got an opportunity to have a meeting with a famous computer scientist from America, and he was very impressed by his words. Impressed by him, he decided to make a career in the IT sector.

After completing his course, job offers started pouring in for him, at that time only a few people in India were graduates in computer science. He had job offers at high salary from companies like HMT, Telco, Air India. However, he turned down all offers to take up a job at “IIM Ahmedabad” when one of the IIM professors personally came to the institute to talk to the bright young man about an interesting job opportunity. In this way, his early life was very struggling.

Narayana Murthy career

Narayana Murthy’s career started with the position of a Leading Systems Programmer at “IIM Ahmedabad”. There he worked to set up a time-sharing computer system. IIM Ahmedabad is the first in India and the third business school in the world after Harvard and Stanford to set up a time-sharing computer system. He used to be busy with work in IIM but used to complete his work. He used to work there for 20 hours a day and learn a lot. Even today, Murthy believes that his decision to join IIM was the best decision that he could make in his professional life.

He worked abroad in the 1970s and spent some years in Paris, which had a profound effect on him. Initially he was a staunch leftist who supported communism, later he changed his views and conclusions to compassionate capitalism and mass creation of employment which was the only commercial method of poverty alleviation. He learned a lot from western countries, but in the end he wanted to stay in India and start his own company in his own country. He started a company called Softronics, which failed within a year and a half. Then he joined Patni Computer System in Pune.

Eventually he decided to become an entrepreneur again, and in 1981 formed another company “Infosys Consultants Private Limited” also known as Infosys Limited in Pune with a capital of Rs.10,000 and teamed up with 6 other software professionals. . In 1983, the headquarters of the company shifted from Pune to Bangalore. Murthy became the CEO of Infosys and served in this position in 1981. In 2002, co-founder Nandan Nilekani succeeded him as chairman. He became the chairman of the board in 2002, and the chief mentor in 2006. He retired from the company in August 2011, taking the title of Chairman Emeritus.

He served as a director on the boards of DBS Bank, Unilever and ICICI Bank. He is a philanthropist and has served on the advisory boards and councils of several organizations such as Cornell University, the Ford Foundation, the UN Foundation and the Indo-British Partnership. Infosys’ performance suffered greatly in his presence and due to this he returned in 2013 as the Executive Chairman and Additional Director of the company. On 14 June 2014, he stepped down from the post of working president. He remained in the company until 10 October without acting as chairman, with Narayana Murthy being named chairman emeritus on 11 October. Murthy also served on the Strategic Board of National Law Firm, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, advising on policy, strategic and governance issues. In this way his career was very bright.

Narayana Murthy is best known as one of the founder/co-founder of Infosys Ltd. It is one of the largest IT services company in India with offices all over the world. Under his leadership, Infosys is the first Indian company to be listed on Nasdaq. It also became the first listed Indian company with revenue of $1 billion a year.

He is married to Sudha Murthy aka Kulkarni, who did Habballi’s “B. B.V.Bhumaraddy from College of Engineering and Technology”. Earned the degree of E. She stood first in her class and for this she received a gold medal from the Chief Minister of Karnataka. After this he did his M.Sc in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Science. Completed the studies of E. In this too, he secured first position in his class and received a gold medal from the Indian Institute of Engineers.

Presently she is an Indian social activist and writer. He is actively pursuing philanthropic work through the Infosys Foundation. They have 2 children, a son named Rohan Murthy and a daughter named Akshata Murthy. Rohan is a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows. He joined Infosys on 1 June 2013 as an executive assistant to his father, but left Infosys on 14 June 2014. Akshata completed her MBA from Standford Business School and married Rishi Sunak, a British Conservative MP.
