Biography of Mahavir Swami, 2021 Jayanti and History (Mahavir Swami Jayanti and history in hindi)

Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated by Jain society as the birth festival of Lord Mahavir all over India. Along with Mahavir Jayanti, this festival celebrated by Jain society is also known as Mahavir Janma Kalyanak. Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated every year on the 13th day of Chaitra month, which falls in March or April according to our working calendar. On this day all types of Jain Digambar, Shwetambar etc. celebrate this festival together. This festival, which is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, has been declared a government holiday all over India.

The life of Lord Mahavir, the originator of Jainism, is teaching the lesson of non-violence to the whole world along with millions of his followers even two and a half thousand years after his birth. Mahavir Swami, the founder of Panchsheel Siddhanta and the twenty-fourth Tirthankar of Jainism, is one of the main flag bearers of non-violence. According to Jain texts, Mahavir Swami was born after 298 years after the 23rd Tirthankara Parshvanath attained salvation in an era where there was superstition of animal sacrifice, violence and discrimination of caste and creed.

Information about the birth and life of Lord Mahavir (Mahavir Swami life history in hindi):

Lord Mahavir was born about 600 years ago on the day of Chaitra Shukla Trayodashi in Kshatriyakund city. Lord Mahavir’s mother’s name was Maharani Trishala and father’s name was Maharaj Siddhartha. Lord Mahavir was known by many names, some of his prominent names were Vardhaman, Mahavir, Sanmati, Shramana etc. Mahavir Swami had brother Nandivardhana and sister Sudarshana. From childhood, Mahavir was brilliant and courageous. After the completion of his education, his parents married him with Princess Yashoda. Later he got a daughter Priyadarshana, who was married to Jamali.

Lord Mahavir was born as an ordinary child, he made his life unique with his hard penance. A story is prevalent in every phase of Mahavir Swami’s life, we are telling here some phases related to his life and the stories contained in it.

Mahavir Swami Birth and Naming Ceremony:

At the time of birth of Mahavir Swami, festival was celebrated for ten days in Kshatriyakund village. All the friends and brothers were invited, and they were given a lot of hospitality. King Siddhartha said that since Mahavir Swami was born in his family, there has been a lot of increase in his wealth, food, money, store, power, etc.

Marriage of Mahavir Swami:

It is said that Mahavir Swami was of an introverted nature. From the very beginning, he was not interested in the pleasures of the world, but due to the wishes of his parents, he married Yashoda, the daughter of Samarveer, the Mahasamant of Vasantpur. And they had a daughter with him, who was named Priyadarshana.

Vairagya of Mahavir Swami:

After the death of Mahavir Swami’s parents, the desire to take renunciation arose in his mind, but when he sought permission from his elder brother for this, he requested his brother to stay for some time. Then Mahavir Swami ji, following the orders of his brother, took renunciation after 2 years at the age of 30. At such a young age, he left the house and started living in the forest with ‘Keshloch’. There he attained true knowledge after 12 years of rigorous penance under a salva tree on the banks of the Rijupalika river in Jambak. After this he was known as ‘Kevlin’ and his teachings started spreading all around. Bimbisara was also one of the great kings who became the followers of Mahavir Swami. For 30 years, Mahavir Swami spread the message of renunciation, love and non-violence and later he became the twenty-fourth Tirthankar of Jainism and became one of the best Mahatmas of the world.

Prefix, Abstract, Kevaljnana:

At the age of thirty, Mahavir Swami became a Shramana with complete restraint, and after taking initiation, he got the knowledge of the mind. After taking initiation, Mahavir Swami ji did very hard tapasya and accepted various difficult prefixes with equanimity.

In the twelfth year of sadhna, Mahavir Swamiji came to Koshambi from Mediya village and then he took a very difficult graha on the day of Paush Krishna Pratipada.

After this, after twelve and a half years of hard penance and sadhana, Mahavir Swami ji got the achievement of only knowledge- only philosophy on the day of Vaishakh Shukla Dashami under the shawl tree on the banks of river Rijubaluka.

Mahavir Swami Jain Dharm

Mahavir is also known as Veer, Ativir and Sanmati. It was Mahavir Swami, due to whom the principles propounded by the 23rd Tirthankara Parshvanath took the form of a huge religion ‘Jainism’. There are many opinions among scholars regarding the birth place of Lord Mahavir, but they are of one opinion regarding his incarnation in India. They consider the tenure of Lord Mahavira to be contemporary with Zarathrust of Iraq, Jeremiah of Palestine, Confucius of China and Lao Tzu and Pythagoras of Greece, Plato and Socrates. Lord Mahavir deeply influenced India. The then dynasty was greatly influenced by his teachings and many kings made Jainism their state religion. Bimbsaar and Chandra Gupta Mourya The name can be taken prominently in these dynasties, which became the followers of Jainism. Lord Mahavir made non-violence the basis of Jainism. He opposed the caste system prevalent in the then Hindu society and insisted on treating everyone as equal. He emphasized the principle of live and let live. Lord Mahavira, who saw everyone in the same eye, was a real idol of non-violence and aparigraha. He didn’t want to cause any pain to anyone.

Mahavir Swami’s teachings:

Lord Mahavir gave the message of non-violence, austerity, restraint, five great vows, five committees, three secrets, anekanta, non-possessiveness and self-realization. Mahavir Swami ji completely opposed the animal and bird and male earring in the name of Yagya and told people of all castes and religions the right to follow religion. Mahavir Swamiji gave sermons at that time to eradicate caste-caste and gender discrimination.

Nirvana:

Mahavir Swami attained Nirvana on the new moon night of Kartik month, at the time of Nirvana Lord Mahavir Swamiji was 72 years old.

Special Fact: Lord Mahavir

  • The followers of Jainism celebrate Kartik Purnima every year as a festival in order to take the principle of live and let live of Lord Mahavira to the masses. He lights the lamp on this occasion.
  • He gave five vows for the followers of Jainism, in which non-violence, non-violence, truth, asteya, celibacy and aparigraha were mentioned.
  • Because of having conquered all his senses, he was called Jitendriya or ‘Jin’.
  • From whom Jainism got its name.
  • According to the gurus of Jainism, Lord Mahavir had a total of 11 Ganadhars, of which Gautam Swami was the first Ganadhar.
  • Lord Mahaveen left his body on the date of Kartik Krishna Dwitiya in 527 BC. At the time of his death, his age was 72 years.
  • Pavapuri in Bihar, where he left his body, is revered as a holy place for Jain followers.
  • Two hundred years after the death of Lord Mahavira, Jainism was divided into Shwetambar and Digambar sects.
  • Jain saints of Digambar sect renounce clothes, hence they are called Digambaras whereas saints of Shvetambara sect wear white clothes.

Teachings of Lord Mahavir Swamiji :

The Panchsheel principles given by Lord Mahavir have become the basis of Jainism. Only by adopting this principle can a follower become a true Jain follower. Truth, non-violence, non-stealing, celibacy and aparigraha are called Panchsheel. the

Lord Mahavir has described truth as great. According to him, truth is the most powerful thing in this world and a good person should not leave the side of truth under any circumstances. To become a better person it is necessary to speak the truth in every situation.

non-violence

There should be no feeling of violence towards others. Love others as much as we love ourselves. Follow non-violence.

Asteya –

It is a great sin to steal the things of others and desire the things of others. Be satisfied with what you have got.

Brahmacharya –

According to Mahavir ji, it is most difficult to follow brahmacharya in life, whoever gives it a place in his life, he attains salvation.

Aparigraha –

This world is mortal. Your attachment to things is the cause of your sorrows. True people do not get attached to any worldly thing.

  1. Considering that karma does not spare anyone, take care of tying karma.
  2. If the Tirthankar himself accepts the sage religion by renouncing his house, then how will our welfare be done without giving any reason for religion.
  3. When God did such a severe penance, then we should also do penance according to our strength.
  4. If God has gone in front and bears the prefix, then at least we should tolerate the prefixes that have come in front of us with equanimity.

In the year 2021, Mahavir Jayanti will be celebrated on 25 April, Wednesday. Wherever there is a temple of Lord Mahavir, special events are organized on this day, but Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated by special worship in a very calm atmosphere, unlike most of the festivals. On this day special anointing of Lord Mahavir is done and special meditation and prayers are offered by Jain brothers by visiting their temples. On this day, donating dakshina to the poor has special significance in every Jain temple according to its power. This festival is specially celebrated in the famous temples present in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Bihar and Kolkata in India.
