Dr. Radhakrishnan was born on 5 September 1888 in a Brahmin family in Tirumani, a small village in Tamil Nadu. His father’s name was Sarvepalli Viraswamy, he was definitely poor but was also a learned Brahmin. His father was responsible for the whole family, due to which Radhakrishnan did not get much comfort from childhood. Radhakrishnan married his distant cousin Sivakamu at the age of 16. From whom he had 5 daughters and 1 son. His son’s name is Sarvepalli Gopal, who was a great historian of India. Radhakrishnan’s wife died in 1956. For further education, his father got enrolled in the Christian missionary institution Lutheran Mission School, Tirupati. Where he lived from 1896 to 1900. In 1900, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan took education from the college of Vellore. After that completed his further education from Madras Christian College, Madras. He was a brilliant student from the very beginning. He did his MA in Philosophy in 1906. Radhakrishnan ji kept getting scholarship in the field of education throughout his life.

The beginning of the career of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan –

In 1909, Radhakrishnan was made a teacher of philosophy at the Madras Presidency College. In 1916, he became an assistant professor of philosophy at the Madras Residency College. 1918 He was elected as Professor of Philosophy by the University of Mysore. After that he became a teacher of Indian Philosophy at Oxford University in England. Dr. Radhakrishnan gave first importance to education. This was the reason why he was such a knowledgeable scholar. The tendency towards education had given him a strong personality. He was always eager to learn something new. He was made the vice-chancellor of the college from which he did his MA. But Dr. Radhakrishnan left it within a year and became the Vice-Chancellor of Banaras University. During this time he also used to write many books on philosophy.

Dr. Radhakrishnan, Vivekananda And considered Veer Savarkar as his ideal. He had kept a deep study car about them. Dr. Radhakrishnan tried to introduce Indian philosophy to the whole world through his articles and speeches. On the Republic Day of 1967, Dr. Radhakrishnan, while addressing the country, made it clear that he would not want to be the President for any session now and this was his last speech as President.
