Early Life

Digvijay Singh ji is born before the independence of India, he was born in Indore city of Holkar State of British India, which is currently called Madhya Pradesh. Singh ji’s mother was a housewife, while his father Balbhadra Singh ji was the king of Raghogarh under Gwalior state. It is presently known as Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. He was also a former Jan Sangh Party MP from Raghogarh constituency. That is why Digvijay Singh ji belongs to a family related to politics since childhood.

He completed his early education from Daly College, Indore, which is a very popular public school. After this he joined Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS) College, Indore to complete his graduation. He completed his graduation in mechanical engineering from there and earned a degree. Due to this, he is also an engineer by profession.

Digvijay Singh has done 2 marriages. His first wife was Mrs. Rana Asha Kumari, with whom he married in 1969. All his children are of Digvijay Singh and Asha Kumari ji. But in 2013, he died due to suffering from cancer. After this he married in August 2015 with Amrita Rai, who is a Rajya Sabha TV anchor. Political Career (Digvijay Singh Political Career)

Meanwhile, he joined the Indian National Congress party in 1970 as a member. Although his father belonged to the Bharatiya Jana Sangh Party. After coming to the post of Chief Minister, he resigned as an MP from the lower house of Parliament. He played his role as Chief Minister, then he was elected an MLA from Chachoda constituency in a by-election. After his resignation, his brother Laxman Singh ji was elected from the same Raghogarh assembly constituency, where Digvijay himself was earlier. Digvijay Singh ji had done a very good job in his tenure, so he got a chance to get elected again in the 1998 assembly elections and he again became the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. He worked in this post till 2003, but after the defeat in the next election, he did not stand in any election for 10 years.

In 2013, he was elected the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee. As General Secretary, he handled party work for the states of Odisha, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Goa. He was also given the responsibility of managing the campaigns in the assembly elections of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Narmada Yatra by Digvijay Singh

Actually circumambulating the Narmada river in Madhya Pradesh is considered very auspicious.   • He brought the concept of decentralization of power to give strength to the poor people of the villages. This led to the establishment of 52,000 Gram Sabhas and 8 Standing Committees were also formed for the Gram Sabha to handle various activities. He and his work were highly appreciated for bringing the concept of decentralization of power. Even the British High Commissioner Sir Rob Young praised his work.
  • During his tenure more than 26,000 primary schools were established in Madhya Pradesh. Primary schools were established in each village within a distance of 1 km and secondary schools within a distance of 3 km. According to the National Census, there was an increase of 20.11% in the literacy rate during Singh’s tenure. Even the growth rate in female literacy was recorded at 21%, at that time the national average was 14 percent.

In July 2011, he accused the RSS of training his workers to prepare bombs. And he had assured journalists that he had video clips of 2 VHP and RSS workers. He also claimed that the encounter that took place at Batala House was fake.
