Keshav Prasad Maurya political career
Keshav Prasad Maurya is famous for the politics of Hindutva. He was associated with Vishwa Hindu Parishad for a long time. For about 18 years, he campaigned for Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Along with this, he was also associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. His political roots were strengthened by spending a considerable amount of time in these two institutions, which helped him to delve deeper into politics. While being associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, he actively participated in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He started his political career by following the path of ‘Garibi Sangh and OBC’ thinking. By joining the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, he strengthened this organization even more. Although Keshav Prasad Maurya is not widely recognized outside Kaushambi, his Hindutva image is well known in many Hindu organizations. During his early career, he was also associated with the Bajrang Dal, and was working as a city caretaker. He also actively participated in the cow protection movement, and also worked in the backward caste cell of the BJP Kisan Morcha.
His active politics started with two consecutive defeats in the Lok Sabha elections. He got this defeat in 2002 and 2007, followed by Modi wave in 2014 when the fleet of many sporadic leaders seemed to be crossing. At the same time, this wave also crossed their fleet and they got victory in this Lok Sabha election. The Kushwaha caste is spread in many areas of Uttar Pradesh and their surname also changes with the change of place. In many places, they are also known by the surnames of Saini and Sakhya. The reason for Keshav Prasad Maurya’s rise in BJP was also that there were many OBC leaders in BJP but Kushwaha had no leader of Maurya caste. Due to the presence of a large number of Maurya caste in Uttar Pradesh, they could have been of great use for caste politics at the time. A break in the politics of BSP and SP can be seen coming out from here as well.
On 8 April 2016, the Bharatiya Janata Party elected him as the party chief of the state of Uttar Pradesh. The then Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi has always supported him. They knew that in Uttar Pradesh, SP and BSP are not in a special position to win, and if in such a situation such a leader is elected from the BJP, who is of backward caste and at the same time preserve the votes falling in the name of Hindutva. In such a situation, relying on Keshav Prasad Maurya can be fielded in the electoral fray. He was seen in a very important role in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and in view of this role, he has been elected as the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
