Adi Shankaracharya was born in 788 AD, in a small village in Kerala, Kaladi. There is a small story of Shankaracharya’s birth, according to which, Shankaracharya’s parents were childless for a long time. After severe penance, Lord Shiva appeared to Mother Aryamba in a dream and said that he would himself incarnate as her first son but, his age would be very short and, soon he would go to the world of God. Shankaracharyaji was completely different from birth, you were calm and serious in nature. Whatever he used to listen or read, he would understand at once and put it in his mind. Shankaracharya had acquired mastery over all the Vedas and more than six Vedanta from the local Gurukul. With the passage of time, this knowledge became immeasurable and you yourself conveyed this knowledge to many people through the medium of teachings, by establishing different monasteries, by writing texts. First of all you told the importance of yoga, you described the ways and importance of connecting with God. You yourself understood the various sects, studied them and made people aware of them.
In 820 AD, you had gone to the world of God, that is, you blessed him by spending only thirty two years with this world.
From birth, Adishankaracharya ji’s lifestyle was somewhat different. Shankaracharya spread this knowledge of Vedas and Vedas to all the four corners of India. Their aim is to make people aware of the divinity of God, according to the Advaita proverb, is Brahma everywhere or is self Brahman, that is, I am of Brahma and who am I? The theory of was propagated by Shankaracharya. With this, Shiva’s power and his divinity were told. The facts and principles stated by Shankaracharya in which there is an unmatched union of both worldly and divine experience, which is not seen anywhere. Shankaracharya never diminished the importance of any deity or reduced its abundance. Through his lifestyle, he made people aware of the three real levels of life.
three real levels
- Prabhu – Here the powers of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh were described.
- The importance of being – the soul of man – the mind of man has been told.
- Other – The description and importance of other creatures of the world i.e. animals, plants and natural beauty has been told.
In this way, if these three are combined, Bhakti, Yoga, and Karma are added to them, then the bliss that is obtained is very pleasant. By living such a life himself, he used to spread his fame everywhere.
