First Ranji match:

He got the opportunity to play Ranji Trophy for the first time in the year 1999 and this first Ranji Trophy match was played against Assam cricket team from Bihar state. Dhoni had scored an unbeaten 68 in the second innings of this match, while in this season of this trophy, he scored 283 runs in 5 matches in his name. After this trophy, Dhoni played other domestic matches as well.
